Months of the Year Activity
Learners practise sorting, ordering, and matching month names through interactive activities. Tasks include arranging months in sequence and using clues to identify each month.
Highlights
- Sort words to identify month names
- Arrange months in correct chronological order
- Match clues to the correct month
This resource offers a series of interactive activities designed to help learners recognise, sequence, and understand the months of the year. Students begin by sorting words into 'Months of the Year' and 'Not Months of the Year', building familiarity with month names.
Subsequent activities focus on ordering the first six months, the last six months, and then all twelve months from January to December. Learners use drag-and-drop mechanics to place month names in the correct sequence, reinforcing their understanding of the calendar year.
Additional tasks involve matching clues—such as 'Sixth month of the year' or 'Month before September'—to the correct month, supporting recall and comprehension of the order and duration of months. These activities are suitable for classroom or home learning and provide opportunities for practice, revision, or formative checks on knowledge of the months of the year.
